I have not spent a Valentine's Day as a single since before I got to Provo. Last year I was expecting to be alone for Valentine's Day and then....Tom and I started dating three days before. HA. But, I must say that out of all the Valentine's Days that I've had someone to share it with, this was by far the best.
Tom serves on the Master's of Social Work Student Association (MSWSA) Board as the Faculty Appreciation Coordinator. So, the night before Valentine's we went to Wal-fart (as Tom calls it) and bought Valentines for our professors. We ended up just buying a bunch of those $1heart shaped boxes of chocolates for each of our professors.
That night Tom bought me my Valentines, it was a box of chocolates and a bouquet of yellow roses.
Valentines day we had classes most of the day. After classes we went to interview the executive director at Tom's work for our class on Social Work Administration. The interview was pretty informative and he gave a lot of pretty good advice I felt like on how to get started what kinds of jobs to look for, etc. I appreciated that what with graduation looming and all.
We were finished up with everything by 4:30pm and figured we would try and hit Texas Roadhouse for a quick meal before all the crowds started showing up... It was early afternoon and we figure people wouldn't be getting off work till about 5pm and therefore restaurants shouldn't start getting busy until about 6pm, right? Not so!
We walked into Texas Roadhouse and there was already a line practically out the door just to get to the hostess to give them the name of your party. I kind of cut in line a little bit and asked how long the wait was and they said it 40mins-1hr! At 4:30 in the afternoon?! Tom and I were a little stunned...
We thought we might try Red Lobster, but there was a guy in the parking lot who overheard us and said that he had just come from there and the wait was 1hr 20min, plus Tom and I weren't sure on what types of fish are ok to eat during pregnancy...
We thought out Valentine's Day dreams were dashed and I was about ready to suggest to Tom that we just go to Subway when we decided to just stop in and check the Spaghetti Factory just across the parking lot from Texas Roadhouse. As luck would have it...they were dead! Tom and I walked in and pretty much all of their management was standing by the hostess booth waiting for customers to start showing up.
Thus, we got a delicious meal on Valentine's without having to wait for 1hr+! Score one for team Bibber!
Spaghetti Factory is right next to the University Mall in Provo, so after dinner Tom suggested that we go window shop for a little bit. While at the mall though, we decided that Noah/Georgia or "Norgia" as we have come to call the baby until we know the gender needed a Valentine too so we stopped in at Build-a-Bear. Baron Von Bearsalot now excitedly awaits the baby's arrival.
After that we went home and I finished making Tom's Valentine. It was an idea I got off the internets of making A-B-Cs for your loved one using adjectives that describe them. I made it myself, but alas, I am not the crafty-pants woman that I fancy myself to be and the finished product looked a little silly. Tom, said it looked great. What a sweet (and smart) husband I have!
